We are looking for a Product Development Engineer to join our team and contribute to the development of innovative new products from concept to production. This role combines hands-on product design and development with project management, ensuring technical feasibility, manufacturability, and high-quality execution. You will work closely with designers, engineers, and manufacturers to develop product specifications, create 3D CAD models, and manage the development timeline up to a successful market launch.
Responsibilities
- Design and develop helmets, parts, and accessories, balancing functionality, aesthetics, and manufacturability.
- Translate product concepts into technical specifications by collaborating with designers.
- Create 3D CAD models and technical drawings to support engineering and development.
- Lead product development projects, managing timelines, resources, and milestones to ensure on-time delivery.
- Work closely with suppliers to optimize materials, manufacturing processes, and cost-efficiency.
- Drive the feasibility study, tooling development, and sample validation processes with suppliers.
- Ensure compliance with safety, regulatory, and quality standards.
- Develop functional prototypes to validate product performance.
- Conduct research on innovative product solutions.
- Identify and resolve technical challenges throughout the development cycle.
- Maintain detailed documentation, including project plans, technical reports, and test data.
- Communicate effectively with internal teams and external partners to align on project goals and updates.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design & Engineering or a related field.
- 3+ years relevant experience, ideally in the sporting goods industry.
- Strong proficiency in CAD/CAS design, particularly with Siemens NX and Autodesk Alias.
- Strong project management skills, with experience managing complex product development timelines.
- Knowledge of helmet manufacturing processes, including injection molding, composites and vacuum forming.
- Expertise in materials, engineering principles, and prototyping techniques.
- Experience working with suppliers and manufacturers to ensure feasibility and production readiness.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication and leadership abilities to coordinate cross-functional teams.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
- Fluent Italian (native or equivalent proficiency).
- Fluent English.
- Passion for cycling and outdoor sports.
- Availability to travel to Asia to work directly with manufacturers.
